Bulk Rename Utility: Windows Freeware Renaming Program
The daunting task of renaming over 100 files to fit my own personal (and maybe anal) naming scheme had me seek out a Windows-based utility and the Freeware “Bulk Rename Utility” fits the bill.
It took over ten minutes to figure out how to make it do what I wanted it to, hence this post, the hopes of expediting the process for any who share this need (renaming multiple files to a consistent naming scheme). Although the power of this utility is staggering (requiring knowledge of Regular Expressions), the example is a simply find&replace coupled with a copy-to-new-location. I’ve washed out the parts of the picture that are not relevant to this example, but do note that the program is all the same opacity&fill. There are both a 64-bit version and 32-bit one, as well a one that supports win98.

I am continuing to be impressed with this program, it simply accomplish a tedious task quickly and with a preview of end results so I can double check before renaming 22 odd files at a time. Kudos to the author. I am use to power coming from the Command Line and it is encouraging to see an application with GUI (Graphic User Interface) that is equally up to the task of filenaming management.
I still use MP3Tag for my music files, but grants me real-time access to ID3 tags in a side column, with a File-to-tags and tags-to-file renaming that works really nicely for those specialized needs (the ability to embed cover art is a feature I never knew I lacked until I got use to it — both fooBar2000 and my mp3 player make use of that image well). Sleep call`s though. Happy Holidays.
The matchless theme, is pleasant to me
Blog liked, but a lot of unnecessary comments.
